Oregon Steelhead Fishing

The Southern Oregon's Wild River's Coast is a Winter and Summer Steelhead dream, we have the finest Summer Steelhead fishing for 1/2 pounder's available anywhere, with well over a 1/4 million annually, and will fish in the Wild & Scenic U.S. Forest Service permitted area of the Rogue. Winter Steelhead numbers are some of the best around , great plug fishing on a number of river's. Winter and Summer fish leave the saltwater and return to the Oregon Rivers. Once they are acclimated in freshwater, these adult Steelhead are on the move upstream. They will run the currents, run from predators and take the fisherman’s bait with aggression, now the Steelhead begin to change. By the time they get to the spawning grounds Steelhead change from the chrome and dark colors they had at sea. Now there backs are green, their bellies turn dark and they have a light red stripe. When spawning is done, the Steelhead that have the strength to return to the ocean will return to spawn again, a Steelhead doesn’t die after spawning, as Spring and Fall Chinooks Salmon do.
